    • A pinch of Saffron (Kesar)
    • 2 large tablespoons Clarified Butter (Ghee)

    • 2 cups Halwa Premix
    • 2 1/2 cups Water or Milk
    • 1/2 cup Clarified Butter (Ghee)

    So, for this recipe, I'm taking one cup of yellow moong dal. We need to take peeled moong dal, and you can take it from any one cup or bowl.

    Now, we will wash it thoroughly with water so that any dirt coated in dal comes out, and our dal are cleaned properly. After washing the dal, we have to keep it in a strainer so that the extra water will come out, and we'll leave it like this for 5-10 minutes. see our dal have dried a bit now.

    Heat two spoons of desi ghee instead of desi ghee, you can use vegetable ghee (vanaspati or Dalda) if you prefer, in a  heavy bottom pan on the stove with medium flame.

    Don't over heat ghee completely, then add the washed and dried dal. Keep the gas stove on a slow flame and roast the dal.

    Mixing the dal with ghee enhances the flavor of our halwa. Remember to keep stirring it continuously while roasting so that the dal is well roasted. 




    And you see our dal, it has started roasting. Its colour is still very light, so it is good that we have to roast it till it becomes golden brown. This method of roasting dal with ghee takes very little effort, unlike the traditional way, which involves soaking the dal for hours, grinding it, and then frying the paste. This method is much easier and quicker.

    Once the dal turns golden brown, turn off the heat and let it cool down.

    After cooling, we will grind the dal to make a powder. The powder should have a little graininess to give a nice texture to the halwa.

I have added the equal quantity of sugar to total quantity of moong dal. If you like a little less or a little more sweet, you can increase or decrease the sugar accordingly.

    Add three fourth cup milk powder to bowl, milk powder will make up for the lack of mawa in our halwa and whenever we prepare its halwa, we will not need to add mawa to it. By the way, if you have milk powder, then you can add it, otherwise you can make it without milk powder.

    Add some cashews to bowl, so here I have cut the cashews from the middle and put them in this way.
